"Piccini and his team leave no stone unturned to recover the rarest and most valuable fossils and minerals from the world's most remote and beautiful locations!"

PREMISE

Italian paleontologist and curator Stefano Piccini scours the planet in search of the ultimate fossils and minerals to satisfy his wealthy and discerning clients. Along the way, he also collects incredible pieces for sale in his gallery stores. Exceptional pieces are set aside to populate Piccini's dream project - A museum and exploration center set in the Italian quarry where Piccini found his passion for paleontology as a child.

The pressure is intense when millions of dollars are at stake and unforeseen issues arise. Anything can happen, whether it's carefully extracting a rare find to negotiating with foreign customs, or properly prepping a piece for display, Piccini's work is always challenging and never boring.

Fossil Quest is an exciting, entertaining and educational program with the flavor of Anthony Bourdain meets American Pickers and Antiques Roadshow.

Episodes will take us to exotic locations far and wide:

  • Dinosaurs from Wyoming

  • Mammals

  • Crinoids

  • Trilobites from Utah

  • Ammonites from Morocco

  • Fish from Italy

  • Insects

  • Amber from the Baltic

  • Birds from

  • Palms from Montana

  • Amphibians

Fossil Quest is the ultimate opportunity to tag along and explore behind the scenes of paleontology with world renowned and enthusiastic expert Stefano Piccini.

FORMAT

A sample episode may look like this: Piccini is hard at work in his lab studio researching a new discovery in Borneo or he could be inspecting a newly prepared dino bone with a microscope. A call comes in and Piccini greets his client over Skype on an array of monitors that monitor the international news and for new discoveries.

The conversations generally begins with the same request of Piccini - can you find the specimen and get it home safely for display in a museum, home, gallery or office on a tight deadline. Piccini is always cautious not to over promise, but he will always accept the challenge with great enthusiasm. This is what makes him tick!

Part Two: A meeting with Piccini's team to discuss

concerns and logistics around the expedition.

Piccini's right hand person is a brilliant virtual

assistant Danielle who is responsible for coordinating

and planning of the project. Danielle is responsible

for keeping the entire operation moving forward

while Piccini is away on expeditions.

Part Three: Getting there. Piccini travels across the

globe to a remote location that's always far away

and often remote. Along the way, Piccini meets fascinating characters and he explores cultures through conversation, parties and exotic food. Eventually, Piccini will meet up with the expert who will take him to the extraction site and tell the back story of the fossil or mineral.

Part Four: Piccini and his host explore the location in search of the ultimate specimens. Piccini is always on the look out for an exceptional piece for his client, and finding incredible specimens for his dream museum. This is the most exciting part of the expedition for Piccini. When an enormous Ammonite or fossil is revealed, his excitement peaks, negotiations begin and the extraction moves forward. Piccini gets arms deep in the extraction and the back story of this discovery is told through conversation with the mine host and crew.

Part Five: Shipping and return home. Shipping a fragile an rare specimen is always a harrowing experience and Piccini is involved every step of the way. He is hands on with the locals to prep and crate the specimen for shipping. Piccini is frequently forced to negotiate with foreign governments to get his piece out of the country and home safely. This step of the adventure is often tenuous and high stress, especially when locals learn the value of a specimen and want it for themselves.

Part Six: Preparation and Installation. Back home in Italy, Piccini an his skilled team of restoration experts carefully uncrate and problem solve the preparation and custom display system they'll fabricate to showcase the specimen. Ingenuity, technology and brute force are put to play as the team works under a tight deadline to prepare the new specimen for unveiling. If the piece is exceptional and rare, or never seen before, the press will get involved and Piccini will find his time spread thin to satisfy his commitments while getting the piece out the door.

Part Seven: The big reveal. The finally of each episode is the reveal to the client and friends. A party is usually planned and guests wait to see the new specimen revealed. Congratulations and thanks are shared and the specimen is shown in all of its glory.

Episodes always conclude with Piccini placing another amazing piece into his personal vault to eventually be displayed in his museum, which is displayed on the wall in beautiful renderings.

One day, Piccini's dream museum will become a reality, and his ultimate legacy!

Eventually Piccin's career in paleontology and fossil trading allowed him to purchase the old quarry where he plans to eventually build the ultimate fossil and mineral museum with exploration center.

Piccini is also responsible for the creation of the Dr Steve Hunters dinosaur and fossil toy line with over 300 products.
